It is truly a most volatile time in my life. As much as I think it's isolated to me, it is not. Does that give me solace? Absolutely not. I never talk about my personal life with anyone but decided to commiserate with you.

For me, I'm at the cross roads of my career. The cross roads prompted by the fact that I was given an ultimatum 3 months ago. I had till the end of October to generate more income for the company. Interesting statement given that I am not in a sales position. Made even moreso by the fact that the ceo is my sisters husband.

Trying to ignore that fact is very very difficult. Communication has dwindled to a cursory good morning and good evening. Uncomfortable would be a kind word in this case.

I'm not sure what the next few months will bring. Bankruptcy, being humbled, appreciating what you got, loving your immediate family, knowing who your true friends are, lack of sleep, stress, not eating, taking stock, resumes, brainstorming, applying for jobs, accepting the inevitable-all these thoughts and more come to mind.

I can relate on some levels what you're going through...

Marc

Re: What Would the United States Do for Mexico?

Illegal immigration has much more to do with the fact that Mexico has such a high rate of unemployment and to be honest from a first hand perspective I would say this is directly to do with the drug trade in the US. If the US didnt buy so many drugs maybe just maybe Mexico would begin to develop industries instead many smart intelligent folks skip out on the good things and head straight into the business of trafficking drugs into the Big and Easy Land. Then violence erupts and well you lose some of the best and brightest minds to the violence of drug trafficking.

If the us were seriously interested in tackling the immigration problem they would first tackle the drug problem in the US. Legalize,Treat the Addicted, and Tax the Hell Out of It. Then instead of building fences work with US corporations to increase wages in US Corporated owned factories, sweatshops in border areas where so many goods are shipped.

At the end of the day I realize this will never happen due to greed. Until then poverty will continue to erode both countries headed down terribly wrong paths.

Re: “Sarah Palin” Makes an “amazing” Appearance on SNL with her Tina Fey Glasses

Stupid geotarded Hulu. Not necessary at the present, but it's been a nice bonus. I think if the impetus really had anything to do with a healing cycle, the first scheduled BYE weeks would be later in the season than week 3.

Of course, having your BYE week moved from week 10 to week 2 is indeed really annoying for all the reasons you mentioned, and MLB pulled a royal f-up over the Astros even worse just becacuse some rich guy did not want to give up the gate receipts for three games down there.

Re: Happy Birthday, Son

I might.

Re: Happy Birthday, Son

Happy Birthday Devin! Debate who? People in his own party who are two sides of the same coin? McCain has been inviting OBama to debate him townhall style, yet Obama has refused. Why? What is he afraid of?

You speak of packaged propoganda and "getting to know Obama" but staged speeches to win nomination of his own party surely doesn't help me get to "know" anyone.

A heartbeat away from the Presidency is a mantra I hear on mainstream media, yet what about THE heartbeat OF the President in re: to experience. Is this not complete hypocrisy?

Perhaps the gimmick is that she was picked to have their opponent's side AGREE that experience in the highest office IS in fact important.

Re: Indictment on Modern Day Conservatism

"Reality says that the above description describes modern day liberalism pretty well."

That sounds more like libertarianism to me. And it didn't really have any meat. Gnomedex doesn't want
shallow feel good sessions. They want something to sink teeth into and
challenge thought process. It was also very echo chambery.

I think the audience did a pretty good job of self-correcting, one of the
nice things about an open and honest Gnomedex conference.
